How to create a beta apps waitlist
You added a Notion form to the landing page and it collected 3,000 emails with no idea who is on iPhone. TestFlight caps you at 10,000 testers, but you only want 500 who will actually open the app. The people who signed up have not heard anything in six weeks.
The beta list is a Notion form and half the emails bounce in TestFlight. 6 steps, about five minutes, or one click with the recipe below.
Step by step
Set up the Private beta yourself
These are the exact values the recipe applies. Change any of them to match your line.
Create the waitlist
Sign in, click New waitlist, and name it "Private beta". It starts as a draft, so nothing is public until you publish.
Set capacity to 500 in total
In Settings, set the capacity to 500 in total. When the 500th person joins, the form reads as full and says so.
Leave the hours open
Under Hours, leave the schedule off so people can join at any time. You can pause the list by hand whenever you need to.
Add the form fields
Email is built in. On the Form tab, add Platform (required), Device, What would you use it for?. Labels and help text render as plain text.
Show the counter
In Settings, turn on the counter so the form shows how many spots are left. People join faster when they can see the number.
Publish and share
Click Publish. The Share tab has the hosted link, a QR code, and the script tag or iframe for your site. The submit button reads "Request beta access".

"You're #212." They stop emailing to ask.
Invite in batches
CSV export by platform. Paste emails into TestFlight or Play Console in position order.
Webhook to your tools
On Pro, a signed webhook per signup into Slack, Linear, or a script.

Questions people here ask
Does it send the TestFlight invite?
No. Unwaited does not email joiners. Export the list and invite from TestFlight or Play Console.
Can I invite people out of order?
Yes. The position is a number, not a rule. Filter the export by use case and invite whoever fits.
What if I want more than 500 later?
Raise the cap in the settings. The form reopens immediately with every entry intact.
