Sixty numbers a day. The lobby is optional.
A daily limit with the counter's hours. Residents take a number from a QR code at the counter or a link on the city website, see how many are ahead, and come back when it is close.
Free to start. You can modify all of this in the editor.
Riverside City Hall
Permits counter. Take a number and we'll call it in order; check back here to see how many are ahead.
Sound familiar?
The ticket machine only works in the lobby, so residents stand there for an hour
To hold a place they have to be physically present, with nowhere to sit. At 4 PM there are twenty tickets left and two clerks, and nobody told the people at the back it would not be their turn today. Every clinic or hearing gets its own paper list.
What you get
The limits, hours, and questions, already set
This is exactly what the button creates. It is a starting point, not a cage: change any of it in the editor after.

Create the waitlist
Open the "Permits counter" template, change what you like, and press Publish. An emailed code makes it yours and puts it live; nothing is public before that.
Set capacity to 60 per day
In Settings, set the capacity to 60 per day and the reset to daily at 8:00 AM. The count starts over at every reset; nothing is deleted.
Set the opening hours
Under Hours, set signups to open Mon to Fri, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Outside those hours the form shows a closed screen with the next opening time, in the joiner's time zone.
Add the form fields
Email is built in. On the Form tab, add Name (required), Phone, What do you need today? (required). Labels and help text render as plain text.
Show the counter
In Settings, turn on the counter so the form shows how many spots are left. People join faster when they can see the number.
Publish and share
Click Publish. The Share tab has the hosted link, a QR code, and the script tag or iframe for your site. The submit button reads "Take a number".
FAQ
Questions people here ask
Can residents without a smartphone still get a number?
Yes. Keep the paper ticket machine or a clipboard at the counter and serve those numbers in between. The online list does not replace the counter; it empties the lobby.
Can we run separate lines for permits, records, and payments?
Yes. Make one list per service, each with its own limit and hours, or keep one list with the service question on it.
Is this accessible?
The form is plain text with large fields and works with screen readers. Residents who need help can be added at the counter by a clerk.
