Waitlist form

A waitlist form is not a contact form.

A contact form asks a question and stores the answer. A waitlist form promises a place in line, which means it has to count, order, and know when to stop — three jobs a generic form builder was never built for.

What a waitlist form needs

The fields can look identical to a contact form. What is different is underneath:

  • A position number for every person, assigned under a lock so two submissions in the same second never get the same number.
  • A capacity you set — total, or per day, week, or month — so the form can say "full" instead of collecting past it.
  • One entry per email, a confirmation with a status link, and a closing time it enforces on its own, not a note in the description.

Where a contact form breaks

Point a generic form at a capacity problem and three things go wrong at once: two people can submit for the last spot and both get in, nobody knows their place until you email them, and the form keeps collecting names after you meant to stop. None of that shows up until the day it matters.

Build one in a few minutes

Start from a blank form or a template close to your case, add the fields you need beyond the email, set a capacity and hours if you want them, and share the link or paste one line into your site.

FAQ

Questions

Can't I just use Google Forms or Typeform?

For a survey or an RSVP with no limit, yes. The moment there is a number of spots, those tools do not enforce it, so two submissions can both claim the last one.

Does the form show people their position?

Yes. Every joiner sees their number, like "#12", and gets an email with a link to check it or leave the line.

Can I limit signups per day instead of in total?

Yes. Capacity can be total, or reset per day, week, or month at a time you choose.

Is there a free plan to try this on?

Yes. 300 signups a month, no credit card.
